The invention concerns a three layer or multi-layer paper machine wire in form of a composite fabric for the wet end of a paper machine. The known wires of this kind comprise upper and lower fabrics which are connected by means of binding threads. During operation of such paper machine wires frequently waves are formed in the wire resulting in essential drawbacks with respect to the quality of the manufactured paper. The object of the invention is to avoid these drawbacks and to improve the stability of the wire in cross-direction. For that purpose the construction of the wire is characterized therein that between the weft thread layer of the at least one upper fabric and the weft thread layer of the at least one lower fabric an additional soup of weft threads is interwoven.
