WDx-103 THREE PHASE POWER SUPPLY FOR PULSE WELDING SYSTEMS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A three phase power system for spike welding employs capacitor discharge circuits for achieving high frequency, high amplitude spike welding pulses with reduced circuit components. A three phase delta to wye connection provides AC power to three individual firing circuits which are connected in series relationship with a firing capacitor and a single primary coil of astep- down transformer. Each of the firing circuits is connected with a respective phase of a three phase source and includes an electrically controllable switch for successively firing and discharging the capacitor to produce voltage spikes. The voltage spikes are delivered to welding electrodes which are connected in series with the secondary of the step-down transformer.
