ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a switch assembly comprising a support. A first contact is mounted on the support and a second and flexible contact is mounted on the support and has a part normally spaced from the first contact but movable into engagement therewith to close an electrical circuit between them. There is an actuating mechanism for the switch comprising a carrier mounted on said support for movement adjacent the second contact between first, second and third positions. A manually actuatable element is carried by the carrier, movable therewith and movable relative thereto operatively relatively toward and away from the second contact, the carrier when in said first position locating said element such that when it is posi- tioned toward the second contact it fails to move the second contact into engagement with the first contact the carrier when in said second position locating said element such that when it is positioned toward the second con- tact it is in engagement with the second contact and moves the latter into engagement with the first contact. However, when it is positioned away from the second contact it fails to move the second contact into engagement with the first contact and the carrier when it is in said third position locating said element such that when it is positioned away from the contact it is in engagement with the second contact and moves the latter into en- gagement with the first contact. The switch assembly of this invention can be used as a flashlight switch and has the advantage of having a small number of parts which co-operate effectively.
