A throat support device comprising a main throat support section having one or more lifting mechanisms, each with a tip, each tip adapted to fit into a location immediately adjacent to and behind a basihyoid bone, a thyroid cartilage and/or a cricoid cartilage of an animal to control upper airway dysfunction is disclosed. In one embodiment, the throat support device further comprises a bridle. In one embodiment, the upper airway dysfunction is dorsal displacement of the soft palate (DDSP) and the animal is a horse. Unlike conventional treatments involving surgery, the throat support device provides a non-invasive and convenient means of diagnosing and treating upper airway dysfunctions.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de support de gorge comprenant une partie principale de support de gorge qui présente un ou plusieurs mécanismes de levage, chacun avec une pointe qui est conçue pour s'adapter dans un emplacement situé immédiatement à côté et derrière un os basihyoïde, un cartilage de thyroïde et/ou un cartilage de cricoïde d'un animal, afin de contrôler un dysfonctionnement des voies aériennes supérieures. Dans un mode de réalisation, le dispositif de support de gorge comprend également une bride. Dans un mode de réalisation, le dysfonctionnement des voies aériennes supérieures consiste en un déplacement dorsal du palais mou (DDSP) et l'animal est un cheval. Contrairement aux traitements classiques impliquant une chirurgie, le dispositif de support de gorge selon cette invention offre un moyen pratique et non invasif pour diagnostiquer et traiter un dysfonctionnement des voies aériennes supérieures.
