A thrombolysis catheter apparatus is disclosed comprising: (a) an elongated thrombolysis catheter portion comprising a plurality of independently controllable electroactive polymer actuators, which provide a curvature to the thrombolysis catheter based upon received control signals; (b) a control unit coupled to the plurality of actuators and sending the control signals to the plurality of actuators; and (c) an occlusion removal device. Also disclosed is a method of treating an arterial occlusion by advancing the thrombolysis catheter portion through the arterial vasculature of a patient to a position proximate the occlusion, while controlling the shape of the thrombolysis catheter portion using the control unit. The occlusion is then removed using the occlusion removal device.
L'invention concerne un appareil à cathéter pour thrombolyse comprenant : (a) une portion allongée de cathéter pour thrombolyse présentant une pluralité d'actionneurs polymères électroactifs, pouvant être commandés indépendamment, conférant une courbure au cathéter pour thrombolyse, sur la base de signaux de commande reçus ; b) une unité de commande connectée à ladite pluralité des actionneurs et émettant les signaux de commande auxdits actionneurs ; et (c) un dispositif d'élimination d'occlusion. L'invention concerne également un procédé de traitement d'une occlusion artérielle, consistant à déplacer la portion du cathéter pour thrombolyse à travers le système vasculaire artériel d'un patient, en un emplacement situé à proximité de l'occlusion, tout en contrôlant la forme de la portion de cathéter au moyen de l'unité de commande. L'occlusion est ensuite retirée au moyen du dispositif d'élimination d'occlusion.
