ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thurst bearing device for high axial loads, particularly for journalling blades in an axial flow fan impeller. A thrust bearing device for high axial loads comprises two thrust bearings which are series-coupled with respect to the loading forces, and in which the two outer race rings are relatively movable, whereas the two inter- mediate race rings are rigidly connected and are prevented by means of two springs surrounding the race rings in each bearing to exert a lateral clamping action thereon from turning in one and the other direction of revolution, respectively, relative to each respective one of the outer race rings. An intermediate ring rigidly connected with the intermediate race rings comprises a cylindrical wall with a central portion opposite the race rings and outer portions with a reduced wall thickness on either side of the central portion opposite the ball holders of the two bearings. Holder parts surrounding the outer race rings have wall portions surrounding the sides of these race rings. In order to reduce the hysteresis of the bearing device and avoid a risk of blocking of the bearings due to clamping of the windings of the helical springs, the springs for each bearing surrounds an outer portion of the intermediate ring and the wall portion of the holder part around the outer race ring of the respective bearing and are surrounded on their external side by external rings.
