TITLE OF THE INVENTION THYRISTOR BRIDGE TYPE POWER CONVERTER HAVING BREAKDOWN DETECTING DEVICE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A detecting device is provided two divided impedance connected in parallel with two corresponding the thyristor arm in thyristor bridge and included a detecting circuit to be connected between terminals of the Wheatstone Bridge comprising two thyristor valves and two impedances. The detecting device will detect breakdown of thyristor when a power supply is applied to both terminals of the thyristor bridge, but gate signals to the thyristor bridge are not energized i.e. floating time.
