ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thyristor device is provided with a shorted emitter structure which produces improved electrical char- acteristics, and specifically an improved dv/dt behavior. The improved electrical characteristics are achieved by controlling the relative placement of the shorts in the emitter and the diameter of the shorts.
