A concrete form tie bar comprises a metal strip having opposite longitudinal edges, opposite longitudinal side faces and opposite end portions, with an intermediate portion between the end portions. The metal strip also has a pair of form locating first tabs projecting laterally from the metal strip and spaced apart longitudinally of the metal strip between the end portions and a pair of retainer bar reception slots in the end portions of the metal strip. Second tabs projecting laterally from the metal strip are bent from the metal strip so as to form opposed notches in the opposite longitudinal edges of the metal strip at shear-off locations between the intermediate and end portions and the second tabs rake out concrete from slots in concrete forms on removal of the end portions from the forms. Further notches are formed in the longitudinal edges of the end portions to facilitate engagement by a hammer, and a low friction material partially overlaps each of the retainer bar reception slots to facilitate insertion of a retainer bar.
