Abstract This invention is a toy for the purpose of entertaining and exercising a small animal, such as a cat or kitten, which is manipulated by a human operator. The apparatus consists of a rod (1) to one end (2) of which is attached a flexible strap (4). The free end of the strap (5) may be detailed by separating into strips (7), by holes punched through the strap (8), by adding tassels (9), by folding the strap (10), by the addition of loops (11), or by combinations of these detailing methods (6)(12)(13). The detailing of the free end (5) will be such as to attract the attention of the animal, and to enhance the gripping of the free end (5) by the animal. In play the free end (5) of the strap may be dangled in front of the animal so as to attract the attention of the animal, which will then chase or grasp the free end (5) of the strap.
