TIGHTENING BAND ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is provided a fastening member of the tightening band type having two free ends and complementary cooperating attachment means inwardly of the free ends. The attachment means may be teeth and allow overlapping engagement. The fastening member has generally a uniform transverse cross-sectional area between the attachment means, and substantially the same strength to resist stress between the attachment means. The portions adjacent the ends include prehension means for cooperating with a tight- ening tool to allow these portions to be moved with respect to each other. The prehension means for the first end portion is between the free end and the attachment means for that portion, and the fastening member includes a region of least resistance whose strength to resist stress is less than that of the remainder of the tape. The region of least resistance is located between the attachment means and the prehension means of the first end portion.
