A tilt cab latch (10) has a piston (78) which is biased to cam on a rotor (50) to capture and exert a preload force on a pin (14). The end of the piston (78) is formed by cylindrical and conical surfaces (82, 80) which match respective internal cylindrical and angled cylindrical surfaces (84, 86) on the rotor (50). The conical and angled cylindrical surfaces (80, 86) cam on one another to exert the preload force on the pin (14), and the cylindrical surfaces (82, 84) provide positive locking against retrograde rotation of the rotor (50).
