ABSTRACT A device suitable for compensating during high speed curve travel for the tilting of a car body of a rail vehicle employs a passive tilting system comprising a tilt compensator which, during travel over cambered, curved track compensates for the tendancy of car body to tilt toward the outside of the curve. The proposed tilt compensator features a four-bar linkage which, in concert with an energy storer, causes the car body to tilt to the inside of the curve. In this arrangement, the car body rests on an auxiliary transverse suspension and readily adapts, without any reduction of its contour in response to transverse tilting, to a prescribed boundary profile. The present invention thus provides, during curve travel, for compensation of the tendancy of a car body to tilt to the outside of a track curve and, furthermore, aided by an energy storer, serves to translate such outward tilting motion into a tilting motion toward the inside of the curve.
