A control mechanism for operating a covering for an architectural opening with the control mechanism being designed to control the tilt or angle of vanes or other such elements used in the covering. The control mechanism is preferably cord driven, but can be driven by a tilt wand. The mechanism utilizes a dye cast zinc spur gear and a die cast zinc worm drive gear that are operably housed in a plastic housing. The housing has two component parts with one part designed to enclose a drum about which a control cord can be wrapped, with the other housing part enclosing the spur gear and worm gear.

Mécanisme de commande pour faire fonctionner un revêtement d'une ouverture architecturale, le mécanisme étant conçu pour contrôler l'inclinaison ou l'angle des palettes, ou d'autres éléments utilisés dans le revêtement. Le mécanisme de commande est de préférence entraîné par une corde, mais il peut également être entraîné par une baguette à inclinaison. Le mécanisme utilise une roue droite cylindrique en zinc moulé et un pignon à vis sans fin en zinc moulé qui sont logés dans un boîtier en plastique. Le boîtier comprend deux parties, dont l'une est conçue pour renfermer une bobine autour de laquelle une corde de commande peut être enroulée et dont l'autre renferme la roue droite cylindrique et le pignon à vis.
