Abstract A time base correcting apparatus is disclosed in which incoming video signals are written into a memory by write clock signals modulated by time base errors and in which the written video signals are read fron the memory by read clock signals modulated by the velocity errors. According to the present invention, the write clock signals and the read clock signals having the different frequencies are used and fluctuations in the sampling positions due to the frequency differential between the write clock signals and the read clock signasl are corrected by the phase modulation of the read clock signals.
