A photodetection circuit for use in a laser imaging apparatus comprises a photodetector (30) adapted to respond to a laser pulse exiting from a breast being scanned; a multi-gain preamplifier circuit (40) connected to the output of the photodetector; a switch (140) connected to the output of the multi-gain preamplifier for sampling the output of the photodetector; an RC circuit (142) for spreading the sampled signal; an amplifier (142) connected to the output of the RC circuit; and an integrator (146) for integrating each sample of the output. A time-gating circuit (108) is operably connected to the switch to open and close the switch at regular intervals of time during the occurrence of the output. A laser pulse synchronization circuit (104) is operably connected to the time-gating circuit to provide a signal to the time-gating circuit as to when the laser pulse is expected to arrive at the photodetector.
Ce circuit de photodétection utilisable dans un appareil d'imagerie laser est pourvu d'un photodétecteur (30) conçu pour réagir à une impulsion laser émanant d'un sein analysé par scanographe, d'un circuit de pré-amplification multi-gain (40) raccordé à la sortie du photodétecteur, d'un commutateur (140) raccordé à la sortie du circuit de pré-amplification et servant à échantillonner le signal de sortie du photodétecteur, d'un circuit avec capacité et résistance (RC) (140) servant à étaler le signal échantillonné, d'un amplificateur (142) raccordé à la sortie du circuit RC et d'un intégrateur (146) permettant d'intégrer chaque échantillon de signal. Un circuit de résolution temporelle (108) est relié opérationnellement au commutateur afin d'ouvrir et de fermer celui-ci à intervalles réguliers durant la sortie du signal. Un circuit de synchronisation impulsions laser (104) est relié opérationnellement au circuit de résolution temporelle et génère un signal destiné à celui-ci lorsque l'impulsion laser est censée parvenir au photodétecteur.
