Abstract Disclosed is a memory unit for use in a data processing system. The data processing system specifies memory locations with virtual addresses. First and second virtual stores are addressed by the virtual addresses. A real store, such as a mainstore, is addressed by real addresses. A virtual-to-real translator translates virtual addresses to provide real addresses whenever a real address corresponding to a virtual address is required.
