A vehicle occupant safety apparatus (10) includes an inflatable vehicle occupant protection device (22) and an inflator (20) actuatable in response to sensing a condition indicative of a vehicle collision. A disable switch (40) has a first condition enabling actuation of the inflator (20) and a second condition disabling actuation of the inflator. An electrically energizable indicator (50), when energized, indicates that the disable switch (40) is in the second condition. The indicator (50) is energized when the ignition (58) of the vehicle is on and the disable switch (40) is in the second condition. The indicator (50) is also energized for a predetermined period of time, when the vehicle ignition (58) is off, in response to movement of the disable switch (40) from the first condition to the second condition. The indicator (50) is also energized in response to a vehicle event (70), for a predetermined period of time, when the vehicle ignition (58) is off and the disable switch (40) is in the second condition.
La présente invention a pour objet un dispositif de sécurité (10) pour passagers de véhicules automobiles comportant un système de protection par coussin gonflable (22) ainsi qu'un dispositif de gonflage (20) actionnant le déploiement en cas de détection de conditions indicatrices d'une collision. Un interrupteur de neutralisation (40) peut prendre une première position dans laquelle le dispositif de gonflage peut être actionné (20) et une deuxième position dans laquelle l'actionnement du dispositif de gonflage est neutralisé. Lorsque mis sous tension, un indicateur électrique (50) indique que l'interrupteur de neutralisation (40) se trouve dans la deuxième position. L'indicateur en question (50) est mis sous tension lorsque la clé de contact est en position de marche et que l'interrupteur de neutralisation (40) se trouve à la deuxième position. L'indicateur en question (50) est mis sous tension pour une période prédéterminée lorsque la clé de contact (58) est à la position d'arrêt en réponse au passage de l'interrupteur de neutralisation (40) de la première à la deuxième position. L'indicateur (50) est aussi mis sous tension en réponse à certains événements (70), et pendant une période prédéterminée, lorsque la clé de contact est à la position d'arrêt et que l'interrupteur de neutralisation (40) se trouve dans la deuxième position.
