A timing recovery circuit (35) in a QAM demodulator which uses a symbol rate continously adaptive interpolation filter. The method of interpolation used in the present invention is defined as a function of time per interpolation inverval, rather than as a function of time per sampling interval as is commonly implemented in the prior art. This allows the interpolation filtering to be totally independent of the symbol rate in terms of complexity and performance and provides a better rejection of adjacent channels, since the interpolator rejects most of the signal outside the bandwidth of the received channel.

L'invention concerne un circuit (35) de récupération de rythme dans un démodulateur MAQ qui fait appel à un filtre d'interpolation à adaptation continue du débit de symboles. Le procédé d'interpolation utilisé est défini comme une fonction du temps par intervalle d'interpolation plutôt que la fonction du temps par intervalle d'échantillonnage utilisée de manière courante dans les procédés existants. Ce procédé permet ainsi au filtrage d'interpolation d'être totalement indépendant du débit de symboles en termes de complexité et de performance, et assure une réjection améliorée des canaux adjacents, étant donné que l'interpolateur effectue la réjection de la majeure partie du signal en dehors de la largeur de bande du canal reçu.
