Abstract Apparatus for setting bead rings against the plies of a tire carcass on the end of a building drum includes radially retractable bead support members spaced about the circumference of an annular carrier member. The bead support members have magnetic end surfaces, and are mounted so that they retract radially outwardly to positions out of contact with the bead ring when contacted by a radially expanding bead support member on the building drum. 150/151P
