ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tire changing machine for breaking tire beads on a wheel rim having a drop center is disclosed. The machine includes a bead breaker mechanism comprising power means, a bead breaking shoe, support means for the shoe and guide means for guiding the leading edge of the bead breaking shoe through a locus inward toward said tire bead and the wheel rim drop center. The machine is particularly useful for changing tires on magnesium and other alloy wheel rims and avoiding damage thereof.
