ABSTRACT A stable adhesive composition is comprised of a poly- functional epoxide which is the reaction product of a polygly- cidyl ether and a water soluble polyhydroxy compound. The polyfunctional epoxide has an epoxy equivalent weight of at least about 130 and is soluble in water at a level of up to about 5 percent by weight. A catalyst is present in the adhesive composition at a level of up to about 0.8 percent by weight as triethylamine.
