A hose guide is disclosed for preventing a hose from getting caught in the nip between a tire tread surface and the ground. The hose guide includes a base plate having a forwardly extending tongue for wedging the base plate under the tire, and a shoulder extending upwardly from the base plate, the shoulder being disposed generally rearwardly of the tongue. The shoulder includes a first arm segment for engaging a portion of the tire outer sidewall, an elevated vertex segment for engaging the tire outer sidewall-tread surface junction or a region proximate thereto, and a second arm segment disposed at a specified angle away from the first arm segment for gripping the tire tread surface, whereby the shoulder covers the hose-retaining nip. At least one vertically orientated roller is mounted generally rearwardly of the vertex segment for slidably receiving the hose being pulled around the tire.
