Tread for radial heavy truck tires comprising at least one circumferential broken-lined groove (1) and wide transverse broken-lined grooves (2) delineating blocks, the wide transverse grooves (2) having sides with a constant and symmetrical inclination over a median area (6) extending on either side of the central plane over a breadth of 40% to 75% of the width of the tire tread and, beyond the said median area as far as the edges having sides with a variable and unsymmetrical inclination as well as two narrow circumferential lateral grooves (5) situated at a distance from the edge no more than one third the width of the tire tread and having a depth of between 10% and 70% of the depth of the transversal grooves.
