This invention relates to a vulcanized rubber substrate such as, for example, a tire and a crosslinked, non-black rubber composition layer thereon such as, for example, a white sidewall. In one aspect, the invention relates to such a tire wherein said white sidewall is colored after its vulcanization with a contrasting colored dye. In another aspect, a dye solution is provided which is comprised of a dye dissolved in a hydrocarbon solvent which is characterized by having a solubility parameter of from about 12 to about 20 [J/m3] 1/2~10-3 according to the Polymer Handbook. Upon application of such dye solution to, for example, a crosslinked white portion of a tire sidewall, such dye solution penetrates and swells at least a portion of said white tire sidewall. Upon evaporation of the solvent, a dyed penetration layer is formed. A polyurethane coating containing light stabilizers can be applied to the dyed substrate to enhance the color and its stabilization.
Cette invention concerne un subjectile en caoutchouc vulcanisé, tel un pneumatique, et une couche élastomère réticulée non noir y superposée, tel un flanc blanc. Un aspect de l'invention concerne un tel pneu dont le flanc blanc est teinté après vulcanisation, au moyen d'un colorant contrastant. Un autre aspect de l'invention concerne la solution colorante constituée d'un colorant dissous dans un solvant à base d'hydrocarbones dont le paramètre de solubilité se situe entre environ 12 et 20 [J/m3] 1/2~10-3, d'après le «Polymer Handbook». Après application d'une telle solution colorante à, par exemple, la portion réticulée blanche d'un flanc de pneumatique, celle-ci s'imprègne de colorant et gonfle au moins en partie. Après évaporation du solvant, une couche colorante imprégnée se forme. Un revêtement en polyuréthanne renfermant des agents stabilisants antiUV peut ensuite être appliqué au subjectile teinté pour en rehausser la couleur et améliorer la résistance à la dégradation.
