ABSTRACT A toilet seat lifting apparatus has two flat member hinged together, forming front and back members. The back member has two holes for alignment with the seat attachment holes in the toilet. The front member has a rearwardly extending lever, connected to a foot operated actuating member. The front member preferably has an upwardly extending projection at its front edge, for contacting the seat. Pushing down on the actuating member, pulls the lever down and forward and pivots up the front member which lifts the seat. Some form of resilient restraining means is positioned between the front member and the toilet to control the downward return of the member, and the seat. By the use of an air bag beneath the front member and a further bag in the toilet tank, return of the seat is controlled and air transferred from the first bag to the further bag actuates the flushing of the toilet.
