A toilet has a trapway extending between a bowl opening and an outlet opening. The trapway defines a curved, preferably uniform circular cross-section water dam region above the bowl opening, a down leg, and a straight out leg between the down leg and the outlet opening. The down leg has a rearward slope where is located a horizontal baffle. The inclined down leg and horizontal baffle work in concert to prevent the back flow of air to a region above the dam as well as to facilitate rapid entrainment and evacuation of air below the dam.

L'invention concerne un W.-C. doté d'un siphon s'étendant entre l'ouverture de la cuvette et l'ouverture d'évacuation. Ce siphon comprend une zone barrière de réservoir incurvée, de préférence à section transversale circulaire uniforme, située au-dessus de l'ouverture de la cuvette, une section descendante et une section droite entre la section descendante et l'ouverture d'évacuation. La section descendante a une partie inclinée vers l'arrière dans laquelle se trouve un déflecteur horizontal. La partie inclinée de la section descendante et le déflecteur horizontal coopèrent pour empêcher le retour d'air vers une zone située au-dessus de la barrière de réservoir et pour faciliter l'évacuation rapide de l'air en-dessous de cette barrière de réservoir.
