A communication network has one master node which maintains an active master list (AML) containing the node addresses of all nodes to which the token will be passed. When nodes are added or deleted from the network, it is efficient in terms of data bus occupancy and individual processing time by the nodes if the successor address for each node is broadcast in a single message, and the availability of an AML makes this possible. The network has the capability of efficiently updating the AML whenever the configuration of the network is so changed.
L'invention est un réseau de communication comportant un noeud maître dans lequel une liste maîtresse active contenant les adresses de tous les noeuds auxquels le jeton sera transmis est tenue à jour. Quand des noeuds sont ajoutés au réseau ou en sont éliminés, il est avantageux en ce qui concerne l'occupation du bus de données et du temps de traitement dans chacun des noeuds que les adresses des successeurs de chacun des noeuds soient diffusées dans un même message, chose qui est rendue possible par la disponibilité d'une liste maîtresse active. Le réseau peut mettre à jour cette dernière de façon efficace chaque fois que sa configuration est modifiée par l'addition ou l'élimination de noeuds.
