ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A tone arm assembly for record players having a first motor for rotating a tone arm in the vertical direction, a second motor for rotating the tone arm in the horizontal direction, with respect to a record disc, respectively, and a control means for controlling the first and second motors in such a manner that the tone arm is moved from a raised inoperative position to a lowered playing position, or from the lowered playing position to the raised inoperative posi- tion in response to control signals.
