Methods and apparatus for making and breaking tubular connections within a tubular string are disclosed. In certain aspects, a tong assembly includes gated power and back up tongs (102) coupled to a torque bar (112) . Jaws (306) of the tongs may be arranged circumferentially with support members (308) disposed between adjacent jaws to substantially complete a 360~ closed circle. A hydraulic circuit may equally distribute fluid and pressure to actuate the jaws. The power tong may include a gated rotor driven by at least three drive motors (111) . The rotor may be selectively physically locked from rotation or movement by one or more rotor locks. Further, the tong assembly may include an interlock that prevents activation of the drive motors until the rotor locks actuate to unlock the rotor. Additionally, gate locks may secure the tongs and rotor when closed, and a releasable coupling arrangement may aid engagement of a motor to a rotor pump.
L'invention concerne des procédés et un dispositif permettant de réalise et d'ouvrir des raccordements dans une colonne tubulaire. Selon certains aspects, on trouve un ensemble pince sous puissance protégée et des pinces auxiliaires couplées à une barre de couple. Les mâchoires de la pince peuvent être disposées périphériquement avec des éléments de support entre mâchoires adjacentes de manière à former un cercle pratiquement fermé de 360·. Un circuit hydraulique peut répartir également le fluide et la pression pour actionner les mâchoires. La pince motorisée peut comprendre un rotor protégé entraîné par au moins trois moteurs d'entraînement. La rotation ou le mouvement du rotor peuvent être physiquement bloqués par un frein ou plus. De plus, la pince peut être assortie d'un système d'interverrouillage qui empêche la sollicitation des moteurs d'entraînement tant que les freins de rotor n'ont pas libéré le rotor. De plus, des freins peuvent immobiliser la pince et le rotor en position de fermeture, et un système de couplage libérable peut faciliter le couplage d'un moteur et d'une pompe de rotor.
