A protective device for use on footwear such as work boots, ice skates, in- line skates or conventional roller skates. The arrangement has a rigid body for positioning over the laces of the skate and a flexible length for interweaving through the laces. The length and body may be fastened to secure the two. The device significantly augments the protection offered by the tongue of the skate to prevent injury.
