The invention is directed to a tool caddy releasably attachable to a paint tray for holding or storing one or more painting tools. The tool caddy comprises a receptacle for receiving one or more paint tools. The receptacle has a base, two opposing end surfaces, a first side wall and a second side wall. The first side wall has hanger means incorporated therein for releasably suspending one or more paint tools in an upright position over the paint tray. The second side wall has storage means incorporated therein for storing one or more paint tools. An attachment assembly is also provided, including attachment means for releasably attaching the tool caddy to the paint tray.
