ABSTRACT Tool changing mechanism for changing tools in boring and turning machines of the type in which the part revolves but the tooling does not revolve. A magazine containing tools with new tool bits is provided preferably at the front of the machine so that it is accessible and fully visible to the operator. Means are provided for relatively moving the machine turret and magazine into effective alignment so that a tool may be transferred from a tool holder on the magazine to the tool holder on the turret, and vice versa.
