TOOL FOR STRIPPING SHINGLES FROM ROOF ABSTRACT A tool for separating layers of construction materials such as shingles. A prying tool is provided with a long thin prying blade, and a handle attached thereto at a transverse fulcrum means. The prying means and the handle are preferably joined at a preselected angle alpha (.alpha.), where the angle alpha (.alpha.) is most preferably about one hundred thirty (130) degrees. The prying blade nay include a secondary fulcrum on the underside as defined by an obtuse angle beta (.beta.), preferably near the chisel end of the prying blade member. A D-type grip may also be affixed to the handle for ease of use. The tool is useful for prying shingles from a roof, especially, but not only, wooden shingles overlaid by asphalt shingles.
