A work surface mounted manually operated clamping holder system includes an upper clamp plate with a padded opening and a lower clamp plate which together provide the contact area for firmly gripping the supporting surface. The upper clamp plate and lower clamp plate are held together by a pin connection through stiffening flanges. The clamping force is produced by a spring mechanism at the pin connection. The spring mechanism forces the contact surfaces together. The operator actuates the clamping system by manually applying pressure to the handles on the opposite side to the work surface contact area. The spring force is overcome and the non-slip coated clamp side opens. To engage the clamping holder system, the operator positions the opened clamp side having the upper clamp plate over the supporting surface and the lower clamp plate under the supporting surface. The operator then simply releases the grip and the clamping holder system grips firmly to the supporting surface. Release of the surface mounted manually operated clamping holder system is performed in reverse order.
