A toolholder assembly and method is provided that comprises an adjustable nozzle assembly for redirecting a liquid coolant stream from a direction generally parallel or slightly oblique with respect to the axis of rotation of a workpiece (12) to a direction that is substantially orthogonal with respect to this axis. The nozzle assembly includes a threaded base on one end and a nozzle head (33) on the other, and the threaded base may be screwed into or out of a threaded opening in the toolholder body (3) which communicates with the original coolant passageway in order to adjust the nozzle head at both a desired angle (A) in a plane orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the workpiece, as well as at a desired point along this axis. The nozzle head projects a stream of coolant at the interface (20) between the cutting insert (8) and the workpiece regardless of the depth of the cut.
La présente invention a trait à un porte-outil et à sa méthode d'utilisation. Le porte-outil comprend une buse réglable servant à rediriger le jet de liquide de refroidissement d'une direction généralement parallèle ou légèrement oblique par rapport à l'axe de rotation de la pièce à travailler (12) dans une direction qui est essentiellement perpendiculaire à cet axe. La buse comporte une base filetée à une extrémité et une tête (33) à l'autre, et la base filetée peut être vissée ou dévissée dans une ouverture filetée dans le corps du porte-outil (3) qui communique avec le passage original du liquide de refroidissement afin de régler la tête de la buse autant à l'angle désiré (A) selon un plan perpendiculaire à l'axe de rotation de la pièce à travailler qu'au point voulu le long de cet axe. La tête de buse projette un jet de liquide de refroidissement à l'interface (20) entre la plaquette de coupe (8) et la pièce à travailler peu importe la profondeur de la coupe.
