A topical, transdermal anesthetic formulation comprising a eutectic mixture of, preferably, lidocaine and prilocaine in a ratio of about 3:1 by weight, incorporated within a lipophilic base. In addition to the property of rapid- onset, the formulation of the present invention has high storage stability and is less restricted by dosage limitations of other prilocaine-containing transdermal anesthetics and is, advantageously, not dependent upon occlusive dressing for optimal transdermal absorption.

L'invention concerne une formulation anesthésique transdermique, topique, comprenant un mélange eutectique, de préférence, de lidocaïne et de prilocaïne dans un rapport d'environ 3/1 en poids, incorporé dans une base lipophile. Outre la propriété de début d'effet rapide, la formulation de l'invention possède une stabilité de stockage élevée, est moins restreinte par des limitations de dosage d'autres anesthésiques transdermiques contenant de la prilocaïne, et ne dépend pas, avantageusement, d'un pansement occlusif pour une absorption transdermale optimale.
