The present invention relates to a method for selectively killing tumour or metastatic cells within a defined compartment of the organism of a large mammal, in particular a human, said method comprising administering to a mammal an effective tumour- or metastasis-killing amount of a topoisomerase II poison except doxorubicin, and protecting non- tumourous tissue of the mammal against the toxic action of the topoisomerase II poison by administration of a bis-dioxypiperazine compound. In particular, the invention relates to a pharmaceutical kit for selectively killing tumour or metastatic cells within the central nervous system of a large mammal, in particular a human, said kit comprising: a) a dosage unit of a bis-dioxypiperazine and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, and b) a dosage unit of topoisomerase II poisons except doxorubicin and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé pour détruire sélectivement des tumeurs ou des cellules métastatiques dans une partie définie de l'organisme d'un grand mammifère, en particulier l'homme, ce procédé consistant à administrer à un mammifère un poison topo-isomérase II, à l'exception de la doxorubicine, en quantité efficace pour détruire la tumeur ou la métastase, et à protéger les tissus non tumoraux du mammifère contre l'action toxique du poison topo-isomérase II grâce à l'administration d'un composé de bis-dioxypipérazine. Cette invention se rapporte en particulier à un kit pharmaceutique servant à détruire sélectivement une tumeur ou des cellules métastatiques dans le système nerveux central d'un grand mammifère, en particulier l'homme, ce kit comprenant a) une unité posologique constituée d'une bis-dioxypipérazine et d'un excipient pharmaceutiquement acceptable; et b) une unité posologique constituée de poisons topo-isomérases II, à l'exception de la doxorubicine, et d'un excipient pharmaceutiquement acceptable.
