Broad experimental tools that include biochemical, molecular, developmental, global genomics and loss and gain of function transgenic approaches have been applied to address target of rapamycin (TOR) signaling pathway in plants, especially using Arabidopsis model system and Brassica napus crop. Towards this objective, putative TOR interacting proteins (TIPs) have been identified and functions of these implicated in diverse developmental and biochemical processes have been investigated. Functional studies including over-expression and silencing of TIPs have shown a range of phenotypes that include nutrition-use-efficiency, altered plant architecture and stress resistance in transgenic Arabidopsis and Brassica lines. Some of these phenotypes are relevant to important developmental pathways implicated in canola crop yield and performance.

Des outils expérimentaux de grande portée, notamment la génomique globale développementale moléculaire biochimique et des approches transgéniques perte et de gain de fonctions ont été utilisés pour étudier la voie de signalisation de la cible de la rapamycine (TOR) chez les plantes, en particulier en utilisant le système modèle Arabidopsis et la plante Brassica napus. Dans cet objectif, des protéines interagissant avec TOR (TIP) putatives ont été identifiées et leurs fonctions impliquées dans divers processus développementaux et biochimiques ont été étudiées. Des études fonctionnelles, notamment la surexpression et le silençage des TIP, ont révélé une série de phénotypes qui comprennent l'efficacité d'utilisation de la nutrition, l'architecture végétale altérée et la résistance au stress dans des lignées transgéniques d'Arabidopsis et de Brassica. Certains de ces phénotypes sont associés à des voies développementales importantes impliquées dans le rendement cultural et les performances du canola.
