A conventional gas turbine combustor is improved by mounting a pilot flame producing torch (12) in the wall (16) of the combustor to project a flame into the combustor as a means of ignition. The torch preferably comprises a catalytic igniter (30) which will operate over a wide range of air/fuel ratios.

L'invention concerne une chambre de combustion de turbine à gaz qui est améliorée par montage d'une torche (12) produisant une flamme pilote dans la paroi (16) de la chambre de combustion pour permettre de projeter une flamme à l'intérieur de la chambre de combustion, qui sert de moyen d'allumage. La torche comporte de préférence un allumeur (30) catalytique susceptible de fonctionner sur une large gamme de rapports air/carburant.
