TORCH SUPPORT AND HEIGHT SENSOR APPARATUS FOR UNDER WATER SHAPE CUTTING A B S T R A C T An apparatus is provided for cutting a metal workpiece by means of a plasma arc torch wherein the work- piece is submerged in a layer of water. To permit adjustment of the torch to an appropriate working height above the workpiece a mounting mechanism on the apparatus permits up and down movement of the torch and a workpiece sensing member mounted on the torch with respect to the torch support member. The mounting mechanism includes a means for stopping the torch at its lowermost position and raising the torch from its lowermost position to a predetermined degree. S P E C I F I C A T I O N
