43 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for forming and winding an electrical coil for a toroidal electrical transformer from continuous conductor feedstock. The apparatus has a mandrel rotatable about an axis and at least one pressure roller spaced from and confronting the mandrel, the mandrel and the pressure roller together provide a forming cavity of varying thick- ness along the axis. Feedstock can be fed into the forming cavity as the mandrel is rotated. The feedstock is formed into a predetermined cross-sectional shape as the mandrel rotates. The cross-sectional shape varies with the varying thickness of the forming cavity. Guides direct each completed turn of coil onto a storage member. The feedstock is severed when a predetermined length of the coil has been formed.
