IMPROVED TOROIDAL TRANSFORMER AND MACHINES AND METHODS FOR MAKING SAME ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for making a toroidal transformer by unreeling a strip of a core material from the inside of a coil of the core material and by winding the strip of the core material into prewound primary and secondary windings of the transformer. The apparatus has a turntable for rotating the coil about its axis in a direction to con- tinually unwind the strip of core material from the inside of the coil. There is a directing device for receiving the strip of material from the inside of the coil and for directing the strip of material away from the coil. A retarding force can be applied to the strip of material to push the strip against the inside of the coil to minimize bending of the strip as it separates from the inside of the coil during unwinding. The strip can be wound from said directing means into said prewound primary and secondary windings.
