ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention is the reusable clamping combination of a self torque limiting elastomeric unthreaded member and a screw-threaded member. Beyond a preselectable screw-induced maximum torque, continued screw-on rotation of said members produces no additional axial relative movement between the members. The unthreaded member comprises an elastomeric cylindrical screw-thread engaging portion which resiliently deforms when engaged by the peripheral portions of the thread on the threaded member, relative rotation of the members resulting in relative axial travel between them. The amount of relative axial travel is limited by the combination of resistance forces from an abutment means of the unthreaded member and torque forces produced by the relative rotation between the members. The abutment means achieves a radial locking of the threads and an axial clamping at the limit of the relative axial travel.
