2118578 9304787 PCTABS00020 A torsion spring cartridge (12) is provided for torsionally absorbing loads on a trailer frame. The cartridge (12) is insertable into an axle tube (12), is insertable into an axle tube (14) and includes a counter torque hub (26), a bearing block (28) spaced therefrom, and a torque shaft (18) mounted for oscillating rotational movement in the bearing block (28) with torsion rods (24) operably interconnected between the counter torque hub (26) and the torque shaft (18). The bearing block (28) and the torque shaft (18) each include over-rotation stops that cooperate to prevent over-rotation of the torque shaft (18). The bearing block (28) supports the inside of the axle tube (17) to prevent distortion of the axle tube (14) and transmits forces from the bearing block (28) and axle tube (14) directly to the trailer frame. The torsion rods (24) have ends with substantially circular cross sections, and are held in place by brazing.
