ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a probe for detecting contact with an object. The probe has a switch assembly including first and second carrier members, each having electrical contacts affixed thereto. A stylus is operably connected to one of the carrier members such that electrical characteristics between the sets of contacts changes when the stylus contacts an object. The carrier members are constructed of electrically nonconductive material.
