ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Flare stack ignitors are normally permanent structures, the principle components of which are in- accessible from the ground. By mounting the probes and the associated transformer on trolleys, and providing tracks for such trolleys along substantially the entire length of the flare stack, the ignitor is relatively easy to maintain. Hollow probes ensure that a good supply of oxygen is drawn into the combustion area.
