- 11 - TRACTION BELT ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION . A traction belt for use with vehicle tires includes a wide band of textile fabric, for example nylon, carrying a series of side-to-side metal bars. The band may be fastened around the tread of a tire with a strap connecting the ends of the band. Alternatively, the band may be laid flat on the ground and one end inserted under a tire for use as a mat over which a tire might drive.
