The following describes my invention for a custom manufactured stair tread cover which, when placed over an existing stair tread of any substrate materials improves the anti slip factor of the stair tread resulting in increased safety and increased stair life. The components of this invention consists of a custom bent metal base, coated with an aggregate embodied in an epoxy coating which increases surface traction creating a non slip, cleanable and durable surface covering. The new "Traction tread" is designed to be replaceable when worn-out, without damage or epoxy build up to the existing stair(s) tread. Installation will differ due to different substrate materials used in the construction of the existing stair tread. The traction tread is superior to existing methods as the traction tread overcomes environmental and down time issues as outlined in the attached description. They are fabricated to fit securely over the existing step. The traction tread has a return flange which accommodates the nail, screw or other fastening device required to attach the unit to the existing stair tread.
