TRACTIVE EFFORT SELECTOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A linkage system that controls the amount of tractive effort being caused to be transferred from a tractor vehicle, having a variable engagement clutch, to the ground engaging wheels. The desired amount of tractive effort is preset by the vehicle operator and is maintained by a self-locking control head. The presetting can be over- ridden without affecting the presetting through the compen- sating effect of a compressible spring integral with the linkage system.
